It’s powerful to have an adult who isn’t a parent invested in you. Or just someone who is significantly older than you.
I never want to forget being 14, pretending to understand romances and dramas between college students and my parent’s friends, having a college student take me out to lunch+shopping and talk to me like I was on the same level as her.
And I never want to let go of being 18, young and inexperienced, having an aunt-like figure sincerely thank me for my actions, insist on taking care of food I need, and make me feel like it’s okay to tell her all of my long drawn-out answers/thoughts.
Noted for when I’m an adult with my own family.
Family never just includes biological relations.
