So, I’ve been cooking a lot more than I ever have. Like a lot more.
I would start a separate blog about the food I make and how pretty it is, yay yay, but 1) I don’t have a super fancy camera that makes everything look beautiful, I have an iPhone, 2) who knows how long this actually will last, and 3) I basically follow the exact recipe and so it’s not like I’m coming up with anything new and creative.
It’s just new for me, because every one of my friends knows that I just can’t/don’t cook.
I came across the blog sproutedkitchen.com actually about a year and a half ago to two years ago, and I quickly became obsessed. The pictures are just beautiful and it’s about a married hipster couple from Southern California, she cooks, he takes the pics, and that’s enough for me to be obsessed, okay? Okay.
So anyways, all I would do is check it every few days and look at a different recipe every day. Normal, right? I soon found out that they were in the middle of making their very own cookbook. That excited me, but it was like a year away. So, in that year, I faded away from the glory of those food pictures and recipes, and I forgot.
UNTIL. I was with my boyfriend walking through Williams Sonoma, and I saw their book. I SAW it, I HELD it: I LOVED it. So I had a complete mental breakdown, and Ian bought it for me then and there as my Christmas gift. Normal, right?
Fast forward to this summer: As I’ve been focusing on all around health, it made sense to have a goal of cooking more often (or… to start cooking). It’s become more than just about the goal, though, and I’ve found that I actually love it. I completely see the charm and beauty in making something from your hands and giving it to others in order to share a lovely meal together.
I think I felt the need to write this entry before I start posting pictures of the food I’ve made, because I’m not pretending to be cooler than I am by posting these awesome and beautiful iPhone 5 pictures of food that are not even my original recipes.
I just like food, and I’ve found that I like making food, and I’m proud of it. So on the blog it goes.
That’s all, if you read all of that, have a nice summer day :)
